Photography Training with The Trained Eye

I have been a trainer with leading Photography Training company The Trained Eye for nearly two years now.  I teach on various courses so if you are looking to get into the photography business, or are just looking to improve your camera technique then there is sure to be a workshop that suits you.  Everybody who comes on the courses always has loads of fun and comes away brimming with enthusiasm to put their new found skills into practice.  Here are some of the courses I currently teach:

 

Funky Portraits

An exciting day learning how to produce fun and fashionable portraits on London’s vibrant South Bank.

Learn fantastic natural lighting techniques, and some basic speedlight flash setups too.  We’ll be working in all kinds of nooks and crannies to help produce images with real energy and edge… expect to find yourself in alleyways, under bridges, and next to grafitti-plastered walls!

The group will be kept to just 6 photographers, and we will be shooting three different models during the day, demonstrating how to get the most from your subject using simple direction and posing techniques.  In short, a fantastic course that will both educate and inspire.

 

Speedlights In The City

Come for a fantastic evening shoot in London. This course is for photographers who would like to learn how to get the most out of their Speedlight flash system. You will come away with some amazing portrait images that will be a blend of both flash and ambient light.

We aim to simplify the use of these great little flash devices and you will finish the course feeling more confident about how to get beautifully balanced flash shots.

We’ll be shooting in some cool locations and the images will have a very urban feel to them, using the amazing light from the local bars, restaurants and street lights.

There will be a briefing and Q&A session at the beginning of the course which will cover areas such as camera settings and the various pieces of equipment such as remote radio triggers, the Speedlight itself and the flash stands. All the necessary kit is provided by us, so you will just need to bring your digital SLR, memory cards and a sense of adventure!

The group will be kept to just 5 photographers, and we will be photographing a great professional model during the evening. Each setup will demonstrate how to get the most from your subject using simple direction, posing techniques and single Speedlight flash set-ups that you can repeat after the course.

 

Wedding Portfolio Builder

You can’t get work without a portfolio, but you can’t get a portfolio without work”

This fantastic day aims to solve just that problem, which every new wedding photographer faces.  Understandably, no one will trust you to capture their big day without feeling confident you’ll do a good job by seeing your work.

So we’ve combined a day of tuition, with providing lots of bride and groom models at some stunning locations, so that you’ll leave with a large collection of images to demonstrate your new-found abilities. We have four professional bride and two groom models on every portfolio course, as well as all the small details like shoes, tiaras and rings etc so that you can shoot a wide range of wedding images.

We have use of a beautiful local riverside church, and two high-end wedding receptions venues to shoot both inside and out.  There are only 12 people on this course, and the groups will be split into two sets of 6, so you have lots of shooting time and will receive a lot of individual attention from both me and the other tutor, Jodie Chapman.

2-Day Wedding Workshop

This 2-day wedding course is ideal for anyone considering getting into wedding photography, or for those that may have shot a few weddings and would like to take things to the next stage.

We will spend a full half-day shooting with a bride and groom, to teach you how to really ‘see the light’!  There is also a module to teach you all about style, what’s expected of you, and the unmissable shots. The second day focuses on teaching you how to find work and how pricing and presentation are paramount to your success. Finally, we spend a few hours looking at Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, and how you can give your images an exciting look.

You’ll leave the course with some great portfolio material, a wealth of information on the business of wedding photography, and shooting and editing techniques to help really improve your work.

I teach all day on Day 1 with Jodie Chapman, plus the post-production module on Day 2.

 

4-Day Wedding Seminar

A total education in modern wedding photography

You’d like to become a great wedding photographer, and make good money from your shoots.  You want to know how to produce those magazine quality images, and how to market yourself to find the right clients.

Over the four days, approximately two are spent covering theory such as your approach to the day, equipment, shooting styles, albums, framing, marketing yourself, and what today’s clients want.

There is also a complete day of hands-on shooting with several professional bride & groom models, at various wedding locations including a church and reception venue.  Finally, there is an entire day spent back in the classroom looking at digital workflow and wedding-specific Photoshop techniques, to help you produce stunning images from your files.

You’ll leave the course with the knowledge and confidence to make a good career in wedding photography, shooting and editing techniques to help really improve your work, and the enthusiasm and contacts to make it happen.

I teach all day on Day 1 with David Morgan, plus the post-production module on Day 3.

 

Digital Editing Masterclass

Are you concerned  about your Photoshop skills? Do your prints often come back from the lab looking a little flat? Do you want to be able to confidently finish your images to magazine quality standards? On this course The Trained Eye will really show you what you and your computer are capable of.

You will learn how to take your images to the next level by breathing vibrant life into them through the use of applications like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop in creative ways. We will be working both on your images and examples from our own library to illustrate effective ways to reshape bodies, smooth and soften skin, remove wrinkles and much much more.

The course is limited to a maximum of 3 delegates so that we can cover everything at your pace and go to the maximum depth possible.

At the end of the day you will go home having had a fantastic time, with a set of your own images edited to perfection and a whole new level of knowledge and confidence in Lightroom and Photoshop.
